Paulding County Patriots snagged a late lead and defeated Hiram 15-13 on Monday. The game was tied at 13 with the Patriots batting in the bottom of the sixth when Chandler Postlewait doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. A seven-run lead in the fourth inning was just enough for the Patriots to hold off Hiram for the victory. Hiram scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Dalton Skinner in the fifth, a single by Zach Ragsdale in the fifth, a single by Owen Ragsdale in the fifth, a error in the fifth, and a in the sixth. The Patriots opened up an early lead in the second inning when an error scored two runs for the Patriots. Paulding County notched ten runs in the second inning. Paulding County’s big bats were led by Tyler Cole, Dakota Reeves, Jacob Harper, Brandon Gorski, Cleve Jordan, and Cole, all driving in runs in the inning. Hiram scored five runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Hiram came thanks to singles by Ragsdale and Ragsdale, an error on a ball put in play by Cole Turner, and a double by Skinner. Joshua Hunton led things off on the pitcher’s mound for the Patriots Varsity. He went one inning, allowing six runs on four hits. Paulding County scattered 15 hits in the game. Cole, Reeves, Postlewait, Hayden Waddell, and Harper all managed multiple hits for the Patriots. Postlewait, Reeves, and Cole each collected three hits to lead Paulding County. The Patriots play their last game of the season Wednesday at Central Carrollton. Game time at 5:55.
